February 20, 2007 update:
Happy 40th birthday to Kurt Donald Cobain.
We only wish you were still around to celebrate it! We, and the music world, miss you and we’re still working hard to carry on your legacy, which seems to grow stronger with each passing year.
Our committee is also still going strong as ever. We’re busy doing some behind-the-scenes work that’ll surface in public real soon. Meantime, thanks for your support.
August 15, 2006 update:
Our proposal for the change to the Welcome to Aberdeen sign was approved, and work was completed in the first week of April, 2005. The words "Come As You Are" were added to the "Welcome to Aberdeen" sign which greets visitors as they enter the city limits. This has been a great start to the goals set forth by the Committee, and will help bring attention to Kurt, Nirvana, and our community's commitment to a positive, welcoming spirit. We want to thank the City of Aberdeen, especially Scott Olsen, Mayor Mike Wilson and Councilperson Voege for all their help and support.
Our Heartfelt thanks go to the many financial contributors to our campaign.
Without your generosity, this would not be possible. Although Nirvana fans may not be considered the most wealthy individuals in society, you have proven to be rich in feeling and motivation. We encourage those who want to be a part of this movement to contribute whatever you can: No contribution is too small or overlooked. We appreciate greatly any support. We are going to need a lot of financial help for future phases, so please help us by clicking on our Contributions page. It's all tax-deductible.
